Tool 5 of 7 · Chapter 5

Assessment Blueprint Builder

Build the test before the lesson. Map each objective to the evidence that would prove it, and leave with a criterion-referenced rubric a reviewer can score against.

The test has to demand what the objective demands.

Mager's congruence rule: an assessment is sound when it asks for the same behaviour, under the same conditions, to the same standard the objective states. A multiple-choice question about replacing a drive belt is a test of reading, not of replacing. This tool checks that match on every line and will not let a mismatch pass quietly.

Bring in your objectives

Pull them straight from tool 3 if you built them there, or paste them below — one per line.

Waiting on the objective.

Write or import the objective and the check runs.

Criterion — what the assessor looks forMet when…

Criterion-referenced: each line is judged against the stated standard, never against how the rest of the group did.

Your assessment blueprint

Bring in your objectives and choose how each will be evidenced. The blueprint and its rubric assemble here, ready to paste into a design document.

Nothing here leaves your browser. This tool has no server and no account. Your blueprint stays on this device, and closing the tab discards it unless you copy or print first.

Next in the method

With objectives written and the evidence decided, Chapter 6 orders them by dependency rather than by topic — which is the first question of Design proper.
